GMC Sierra Denali 1500: King Of Luxury Trucks
GMC makes some of the most luxurious trucks and SUVs on the market, and the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate takes that up a notch. Journalists and buyers alike love how the Denali Ultimate has everything a high-end luxury vehicle should have but isn’t afraid to get dirty and tow like a regular everyday truck.
Newsweek Review
Newsweek recently took a new GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate and gave it a full shakedown to understand what makes the Sierra one of the best vehicles available. In their summary, they said, “If new truck buyers want luxury, the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is the perfect place to start shopping.” That should tell buyers all they need to know.
Price & Engines
The 2024 Sierra Denali Ultimate has a base MSRP of $83,490 and comes standard with four-wheel drive. Under the hood, buyers get an extremely reliable 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque or the optional Duramax 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 diesel that outputs 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission handles all power, no matter the engine you choose.
Standard 4WD Comes In Handy
Due to the timing of the review, Newsweek found themselves in the heart of some rough winter weather but found the Denali Ultimate the right vehicle for the situation, saying, “The 2024 Sierra Denali had to contend with the first real blizzard in Michigan, which brought about 10 inches of snow and freezing temperatures during its test drive week. The truck’s four-wheel drive system was kept in Automatic or Four-High most of the week, allowing it to easily drive on the unplowed, messy roads.”
An area where GMC always gets things right is interior luxury, and the Denali Ultimate turns that up to 11. The Newsweek author highlighted this and some unique aspects: “As with all GMC Denalis, the interior is excellent, this one with beautiful-looking dark brown leather, which matched its brown wood trim elements. Topographical maps of Mount Denali were featured on the dashboard and seats, matching the topographical elements on the exterior. As expected on a luxury vehicle, the front seats are heated and cooled, but the one-touch massage function is a bonus feature. It only works the seatback and not the seat bottom; it will still become a habit to push it every time you hop in the cabin.”
Like all GMC vehicles, the Sierra Denali Ultimate features GMC Pro Safety Plus as standard, which features Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Park Assist, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam auto high beams, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Ultimate models also come with GM’s incredible Super Cruise, one of the most advanced hands-free driver assistance technologies available.
Towing Capabilities
GMC Sierra models can also take advantage of advanced towing capabilities and features, such as Smart Trailer Integration Indicator, Hitch Guidance, Hitch View, and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert. The optional Enhanced Trailering Technology Package adds Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Sensors, Auxiliary Trailer Camera, Trailering assist guidelines, and Inside/Rear Trailer Camera Input. When properly equipped, the Sierra Denali Ultimate has a max towing capacity of 13,000 lbs.
